How Teacher's Buddy Uses AI

Teacher's Buddy uses AI to help educators draft, summarise, search, recommend, adapt, and generate teaching resources. AI features are intended to support teacher judgement and workflow efficiency, not replace professional review.

Teacher's Buddy sends the user's instructions and relevant, user-authorised task context to configured third-party foundation-model providers at request time. Application-level instructions, tools, retrieval and safety controls guide the response. This runtime context does not fine-tune or alter the provider's model weights, and personal data, prompts and generated content are not used to train or fine-tune those models.

Human Review

Treat AI outputs as drafts. Before using, sharing, publishing, or relying on any AI-assisted output, review it for accuracy, curriculum fit, age suitability, accessibility, tone, privacy, cultural context, and school policy requirements.

Do not rely solely on AI-generated outputs for academic, legal, financial, medical, safety-related, disciplinary, wellbeing, or other high-impact decisions.

Accuracy, Bias and Suitability

AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, outdated, or unsuitable for a specific class or learner group. Check factual claims, citations, calculations, assessment criteria, translations, and any content involving sensitive topics before use.

Privacy, Permission and Consent

Only include information that is necessary for the task. Do not enter sensitive personal information, confidential school or business information, credentials, payment details, health information, disciplinary records, or other restricted data into AI features unless you are authorised to do so and it is necessary for the educational purpose.

Where possible, use de-identified or generalised context rather than unnecessary personal details.

Before including another person's personal information, confirm that your school has authority and an appropriate legal basis to use it for the educational purpose, and obtain consent where consent is required by law or school policy. Follow your school's privacy, records-management and acceptable-use requirements.

Legal, Professional and School Obligations

Use AI features in accordance with applicable laws, copyright and intellectual-property obligations, professional duties, contractual requirements, and your school's policies. Do not use AI to bypass required approvals, assessment-integrity rules, safeguarding obligations, or records-management requirements.

Effective Prompting

  • Provide enough context for the teaching purpose, year level, subject, curriculum, learning objective, and intended audience.
  • State constraints clearly, such as length, tone, reading level, resource format, differentiation needs, and assessment criteria.
  • Ask the AI to explain assumptions or highlight areas that need teacher checking where accuracy matters.
  • Iterate on outputs instead of accepting the first response where quality, safety, or suitability is important.
  • Avoid adding unnecessary personal data about students, families, colleagues, or schools.

Reporting AI Errors or Concerns

Report AI-specific errors, unsafe outputs, privacy concerns, suspected bias, or other responsible-AI concerns to support@teachersbuddy.com. Privacy matters may also be sent to privacy@teachersbuddy.com.

AI Change Management

Material AI changes are reviewed for user transparency, model or provider changes, relevant data sources, limitations, testing, monitoring, privacy and security implications, and whether user communication is needed. Material AI changes are recorded in the AI Change Log.
